Windows 10 Refuses to Die: Half a Billion PCs Stick with the Old OS
So, Windows 10 just won't die, huh? Even though it's been around for a decade and Microsoft is practically begging people to move on, tons of users are sticking with it. Dell spilled the beans, saying there are roughly 500 million PCs out there perfectly capable of running Windows 11 that are just... not. It's kind of wild.
And get this: apparently, another 500 million PCs are too old to even handle the upgrade. That's a billion machines in total! I guess Microsoft's plan to force everyone onto Windows 11 with stricter hardware requirements isn't going exactly as planned. It seems a lot of people are happy enough with what they've got, or simply don't want to shell out for new hardware just to get the latest OS.
Dell sees this as a chance to push new Windows 11 machines, especially those fancy AI PCs they're so excited about. They are hoping to convince users that the grass is greener on the other side of the upgrade fence. But I'm not entirely convinced. If your old PC is doing everything you need it to do, why bother?
