Threads hits 400 Million Monthly Active Users: Meta's X competitor keeps growing!
Wow, it looks like Threads, Meta's answer to X (formerly Twitter), is seriously gaining traction. I mean, hitting 400 million monthly active users? That's nothing to sneeze at. It feels like just yesterday we were talking about it reaching 300 million back in December, and before that, 200 million in August. Talk about growth!
According to Fast Company, Threads' mobile performance is even starting to get closer to X's numbers, based on data from Similarweb. Back in June, Threads saw 115.1 million daily active mobile users, compared to X's 132 million. Although X still has the lead, Threads' increase of 128 percent year-on-year is pretty impressive. On the other hand, X saw a 15 percent decrease from the previous year. These numbers really tell a story about where people are focusing their attention.
When Meta launched Threads in 2023, Zuckerberg had this ambitious goal of hitting 1 billion+ users. Sure, it still has a way to go, but the platform has already added some important core features, like DMs, which is a crucial step to keeping people active on the app. Also, they have increased the emphasis on external links. I'm curious to see if people are actually clicking those links, though.
As someone who is using it since the first day, I can say that it's come a long way, and it feels like a real contender in the social media space.
