Insta360's Antigravity: New Drone Records 360° Video

Drones

So, Insta360, known for its awesome 360-degree cameras, is branching out. They've created a new company called Antigravity, and guess what? They're diving into the drone world. What's really interesting is that Antigravity is working on a drone that can record 360-degree video, basically bringing Insta360's signature tech to the skies.

Details are still pretty scarce since they're finalizing their first product. However, the idea is that these drones will appeal to both experienced drone pilots and newcomers. Antigravity seems to think that many new users feel intimidated by the learning curve of flying drones, so i think they are planning to make a really easy to use product.

If Antigravity can successfully integrate the 360-degree camera tech that made Insta360 famous, that would be amazing. Imagine being able to reframe your shots and adjust the angles *after* you've already flown the drone! That's the kind of flexibility that could really change how we capture aerial footage. According to Antigravity, this is designed for anyone that wants to capture moments without missing the shot.

Insta360's Previous Drone Ventures

This isn't Insta360's first attempt in the drone space. Remember the Sphere? It was a $430 contraption that allowed you to attach Insta360's 360-degree cameras to a DJI Mavic 2. The Sphere used some pretty clever algorithms to stitch together the footage and make the drone virtually invisible in the final video. It looks like the product is not available anymore.

The reason behind this new dedicated drone company is that building drones is complicated. It's not just about slapping a camera on a flying machine. It involves a ton of specialized knowledge, technical challenges, and, of course, navigating all those pesky regulations.

The Antigravity team believes that operating as a separate entity will allow them to be more agile and develop new product lines and accessories more quickly. They are planning to reveal the drone in August 2025, so we still need to wait a little bit to see this new product.
