Dangbei's S7 Ultra Max: A Super Bright, Liquid-Cooled 4K Projector

Home Entertainment

I'm always on the lookout for the next big thing in home entertainment, and Dangbei's new projector definitely caught my eye. The S7 Ultra Max, which they're showing off at IFA in Berlin, is packing some serious heat – or rather, trying to tame it with liquid cooling. This projector, initially launched in China, boasts a staggering 6,200 ISO lumens of brightness. That's incredibly bright, promising a vibrant and clear picture, even in well-lit rooms. I was impressed by the Anker Nebula X1 projector and this one seems to be even better.

However, I'm taking that number with a grain of salt. Brightness measurements can be tricky, and different standards can produce different results. Previously, Dangbei claimed "5800 CVIA lumens" in China. CVIA tends to give higher brightness values than ISO, so I'm curious to see how the 6,200 ISO lumen figure holds up in real-world testing. Still, even if it falls a bit short, it's likely to be a very bright projector.

Beyond the brightness, the S7 Ultra Max has other impressive features. For example, it includes Dolby Vision/HDR10+ support for enhanced visuals, dual 15W speakers for decent sound, and a swivel base with automatic focus and keystone correction for easy setup. The liquid cooling system is also worth mentioning, as it should keep the projector running quietly (at a claimed 24dB) despite the powerful light source.

The price in China is around $2,250. It remains to be seen if the global price will be similar, but I hope it will be, since that seems like a great price for what you are getting.

I'm excited to see what Dangbei reveals at IFA. If the S7 Ultra Max lives up to its promises, it could be a serious contender in the high-end projector market. We will have to wait and see how it performs in person, but I remain optimistic about this device.
