Adobe Firefly Adds AI Sound Effects and Veo 3 Integration
Adobe is seriously upping its game with Firefly! Since revamping the app in April, they've been dropping updates almost every month. This time, it's all about boosting Firefly's video capabilities. One of the coolest new features? Adding sound effects using AI.
Let's be honest, most AI video generators create visuals without any sound. Adobe is fixing this with a clever tool. You can now describe the sound effect you want, and even record yourself making it. It's not about mimicking your voice, but rather capturing the intensity and timing you're after.
Imagine adding the sound of a zipper to your video. An Adobe employee demoed this by making a "zzzztttt" sound, and Firefly nailed it! Of course, it wasn't perfect, like when they tried adding concrete footsteps. Still, if you're just brainstorming ideas, it's a fantastic start.
When you're tweaking those sound effects, you'll appreciate the timeline editor. It makes timing everything perfectly a breeze.
But wait, there's more!
More New Features in Firefly
Adobe is also introducing features like Composition Reference, Keyframe Cropping, and Video Presets. Composition Reference lets you upload a video or image to guide the generation. Combine this with Video Presets, and you can set the style of your final video. Think anime, black and white, or even vector art.
Keyframe Cropping is also pretty neat. Upload the first and last frames of your video, pick an aspect ratio, and Firefly will generate a video that fits your format.
And there’s another big addition...
Veo 3 Integration
Remember when Google showed off Veo 3 at their I/O conference? Well, it's now part of Firefly! What's great about Veo 3 is that it's one of the few AI models that can generate video with sound.
Like other third-party models in Firefly, Google is committed to keeping your data private. Every video created is digitally signed, so you know which model made it. This helps prevent accidental copyright issues. According to Adobe's Zeke Koch, they're committed to keeping the updates coming. He says they will keep adding more third-party models as long as those providers agree to their data privacy terms. Sounds good to me!
